How To Moderate Comments On Instagram With Keyword Moderation Tool

You will now be able to moderate comments on Instagram and keep all pesky, unwanted comments at bay. Instagram has recently introduced the first keyword moderation tool, in an effort to keep offensive and inappropriate comments from appearing on your posts. This feature lets you list words you consider offensive or inappropriate and hides all comments which feature them. You can choose your own list of words or use default words provided by Instagram.

According to the statement released by CEO and co-founder Kevin Systrom on Instagram’s blog:

The beauty of the Instagram community is the diversity of its members. All different types of people — from diverse backgrounds, races, genders, sexual orientations, abilities and more — call Instagram home, but sometimes the comments on their posts can be unkind. To empower each individual, we need to promote a culture where everyone feels safe to be themselves without criticism or harassment. It’s not only my personal wish to do this, I believe it’s also our responsibility as a company. So, today, we’re taking the next step to ensure Instagram remains a positive place to express yourself.

Here are the easy steps you can follow to activate this tool and keep your posts clean.

Step 1: Tap the GEAR icon on your profile. (The three vertical dots on the extreme right of your header.)

Step 2: Scroll down to the SETTINGS option.

Step 3: Click on the COMMENTS MODERATION option. Type down the words you consider offensive and inappropriate. ( Comments with these words will be hidden from your posts.) You can also use Default Words provided by Instagram by sliding on the “Use Default List Of Keywords” option under Comments Moderation.

Step 4: Save by clicking on the Blue Tick that appears on the upper right side.

Just a little heads-up though. It might take a little bit longer to do this since it is still a new update.Mine kept hanging for quite sometime till I could actually save it.
